Eating In

As if the recession wasn't enough to convince you to stay home and cook, the New York Public Library's Young Lions are hosting a panel discussion called Eating at Home this Monday, May 18th in the Library's Bartos Forum. Included on the panel are food writers Amanda Hesser and Julie Powell, chef Rocco DiSpirito, and Professor of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health at NYU, Marion Nestle.

For more information about the Young Lions and the event, check out the NYPL website.

It was a pleasure seeing you last night, Rebecca! Thanks so much for coming and making the evening so special. We'll have to find another occasion to bring out Gel It! Lord knows people aren't cooking enough with gelatin these days.

Laurie Colwin's wonderful cookbooks "Home Cooking" and "More Home Cooking" are great inspirations to cook at home. I also like (though I live in Maine) the blogs Not Eating Out in NY (http://noteatingoutinny.com/category/recipes/), Meal by Meal (http://mealbymeal.blogspot.com/), and Sunday Night Dinner (http://sundaynitedinner.com/) for inspiring recipes. Your blog has pointed me to many wonderful books. Thank you!
